I don't remember what brands they where but one was a roots style on top of the engine and the other two where the centrifugal(turbocharger looking) type setup kind of like a twin turbo setup. He was using a race prepped block that's all I know. That beast was putting out around 1200 HP. He was in Popular Hot Rodding a while back in the early nineties I think. It was one of those mags but it was not MM&FF.

3 blowers? Yowza.

Heat the air once, heat it again, and heat it one more time. Great way to make power safely. Unless ya'll had a intercooler as large as my front windshield, that air had to be hotter than hell!

No wonder you had to rebuild that sucker every race.

Or am I missing something? Any advantages of a tri-blown motor that's used for drag-racing only?

John

no, not really, except maybe high pimp factor. If you have chosen your blower wisely, it will be capable of more than enough flow/boost to blow up your motor (this is so the blower can run more efficiently at the power level you desire to run at). Now, there can be efficiency and or power curve benefits with a positive displacment blower and a turbo, but three superchargers means the guy was either going for big pimp factor, or was simply using whatever was cheap/easy at the time.

It's all about balance.

A 100 shot with a turbo first of all would be insanely expensive, because that would most likely have to be a wet NOS kit.You could consider going to a 50 shot dry kit. That would be good because of the original cooling effect of the NOS, it goes into the intake at -176degrees.Then when you hit the little red button you dont end up with cylinders in the air and headers on the ground laugh

Not really, I have seen several dynos of various NOS(the brand name) systems in Hotrod and (i think) Import tuner Magazine that netted more HP than the advertised shot(usually by about 5-8 hp) Also with the topic at hand injecting N2O into charged (read: hot) air the coolong effect alone will net you several more HP than just what the shot itself advertises.

Please don't get into a discussion like this when you have the limited knowledge base you do.

Thats why I haven't injected(no pun)anything, I have no advice to offer...therefore I don't.

And don't come on here and start name calling because someone checks you on an error.

And yes, I know who you are.

I'm not sure why he had three blowers becuase that was when I was first getting into modding cars and I was learning how to do stuff from him. Now that I think back on it, it was probably like you guys said a big pimp factor going on. I remember everytime he would race the car he would always want to show the engine off and was always bragging about. And he did have an intercooler that was pretty big, it was almost the same size as the radiator. But like I said he got over his little mad scientist thing and built a GTO with a single blower and was much happier with it.
