If you removed that to install the bearing, you would have to change the mounting of the shaft, since all the mounting hardware is on the tube...if that makes any sense. I would take some pictures, but I dont have a digital camera handy, and unless you have the motor out of the car, you aren't going to see much, from above or below. The installation is so tight, that you just cant see much of the shaft.
Well I saw one installed on the car about a year ago, I just need to refresh my memory. I have also seen some pictures posted at this site before however I cannot locate them now. You may not think that the pictures will be that informative, but then again you do not beleive a bracket can be fashioned to work.[not a flame,please dont take offense] Just get some pictures and post them and we'll go from there. We have a saying in my industry "If you want something impossable to do done, give the job to a guy that doesnt know its impossable to do" You would be suprised how many times that has worked!
