geez, I hate to have to say it this way, but Demon, you are right, though not for the reasons you think. TT's are used to decrease turbo lag, but sacrifice high end power. I know quite a few people that have switched from TT to single. This is a shortsighted statement, while it may be true in a given particular application, it depends completely on the designers intent, and the particular components used, and the overall setup of the system. The 2.5L as used in the Contour, and especially in the SVT, is in a position where, if properly designed, either a twin turbo system or a single turbo system can perform very well in pretty much all areas. The problem w/ a twin turbo on a Contour, is that it would be extrememly difficult, though not necesarily impossible to package. Where a single turbo can be packaged relativley easy (though it won't be a walk in the park either) Jac, I hate to say this, but your buddy will probably end up asking you for quite a bit more money because of the vast amount of time and effort it will take to fit a twin turbo. (this of course is assuming your buddy is knowledgable and experienced enough to do it in the first place) hunymobile, Please, think before you speak. A single turbo is more than capable of working quite well. Heck I know of single turbo Mustangs in the 8s and even faster. And FYI, that pic is of a turbo duratech stuffed into a Focus wagon for Ford Racing.
It's all about balance.

Okay.. Have to agree there... ...But "most production" TT vehicles are designed around that thinking & setup. (Leave Porsche out of this ) I also mentioned the "packaging" a TT in a contour subject. (and more money ) That tends to shorten my field of vision.

True, true Demon. However, first thing I noticed was the long exhaust tube on the front end of the engine. I think that turbo lag would blow (no pun intended) b/c only one bank hits the turbo until the other one catches up. For any given increase in acceleration, one bank of exhaust headers will have more flow, i.e. spin the turbo faster. Wouldn't the difference in exhaust velocity pose differences in dynamic pressure causing pressure fluctuations in the turbine exhaust inlet? Seems like it would be pretty inefficient, but like someone said, this is already in the car. I would be interested in seeing how it actually performs. These are q's, I'm not saying anyone here has insufficient level of knowledge when it comes to turbocharging. I've never done it but I have researched and I have training in Fluid Flow from an ME aspect. Please don't flame!

.02- Is it not bneficial in a TT setup to run 2 different size turbos. Small one to spin up quickly for acceleration and larger(but not large) one for top end power.

Speaking of that picture... Moving the battey, making the plumbing, etc etc... That actually looks like it might take up LESS room than the supercharger install. Some nice vents in the drivers side of the hood with an intercooler shoved under there might make for a super sexy setup. I'm just sayin.... From lookin at it anyway. I'm not sayin' it's easy.

I think you would be nuts! $4500 if your going to start dropping money like that I would go with a tried and tested zetec turbo. Or hunt a RS motor out of Europe I was offered a low mile Cosworth 2.0 16V for about five k, and had yet to try and haggel. Your in uncharted waters with something that I feel will overwhelm a front driver, and every other part on the tour that was simply designed for 200 hp and 167 ft/lbs. Unless your talking about the GT Then I say hell ya! and get the T56 too boot and eat Porsches all day long!

See now I'm hung up on this setup... And I know Chris is working on everything but I have questions: 1. How big is the Supercharger impellor? Is it relatively the same size of the turbo being considered? 2. One the engine is dropped (lifted?), it shouldn't be difficult to install the manifolds, right? Naturally... making them, I'm sure, is. 3. Is there such thing as an intercooler that also works as an air filter/intake? I'm just wondering if you COULD stuff a smallish (bigger is better - yes I know) one under the hood (above and to the drivers side) and have it "suck" air in from hood vent(s). Or something like that - I saw this type of setup on a Diamante Wagon with a VR-4 engine setup and they cut some pretty holes in the hood for it. - Called it the War Wagon.... Was like 5 or 6 years ago though. Or maybe just have the intercooler under the hood and have the air filter underneath it? Or maybe just put the intercooler in the trunk with the battery! They'll get along well I'm sure! (Can you tell I haven't looked under the hood of my car in a while? ) 4. Why am I bothering asking? I'm done with cars!!! Hehehhe.... I've been on 2 wheels for too long... everything in my fictitious world is "easy" and "doable".

Sal, from #3 on in your post. What the HELL are you talking about??????? Do you know what a intercooler is? Do you know what it does? And what the hell does a air filter have to do with it???
