Ya know... that could very well be it. I really wish I still had the article somewhere to clear it up. All I remember is that it was some kind of weird setup not used on a turbo car before (it was many years ago). I think that since I'm in the dark about the details, I'll concede that.

Don't think I'll give up lookin' though!
Yeah sorry I missed the meeting fellas! We'll definitely do one in the Spring. Personally, I hate the cold!

Hey Sal,
Some people prefer to make smart remarks without actually explaining why, most of the time I don't blame them for doing so.
Having the intercooler as part of the intake does not make sense. If Chewbacca actually lived on Endor then intercoolers could be before the turbo. But as we know, that does not make sense! Intercoolers cool down the heated air caused by the compression that the forced inductor (is that a word?) creates. If it were before the turbo in the plumbing, it would have no effect. The TT system on a V6 VR4 is very confusing when looking at it from the engine bay which may have confused you. To fit it in a Diamante, they may have done some crazy plumbing to fit a top mount intercooler, of course pictures of the system would help to explain it better. I believe they normally use front mount on the VR4s. WRX's have top mount intercoolers and use the hoop scoop to force air through the it. The turbo and air filter I believe are located to the left side of the engine. I'm not sure, but the air filter may be out of sight to the left (its been 6 months since I've seen a WRX engine bay.)
My guess is they used a top mount intercooler with the air filter close by to benefit from the cool air coming in through the vents. Would make for some tight plumbing I'm sure!
BTW, I love the look of that turbo on the Duratech!
