ok, The motor says 3.0 on top. It is a 97' Taurus GL. Is it a duratec?

BTW - Isn't is 98 and up 3L Duratecs that are compatible anyway???

You can actually use the older '96-'97 blocks too, just need to modify the trans bolt pattern by drilling and tapping a hole as well as some slight cutting to clear the starter position with out MTX. Someone on here actually did that I think... I don't remember who it was though... Not quite as easy as the newer '98-'99 blocks, but you can do it.
