I would say the question is what do you want to do with it?
-3.0l with 3.0l 2001+ heads I'd say this is the best current solution with the ST200 cams and some minor head work for the best gains cheaply. It also leaves the door open for a Turbo or Supercharger later.
-same as above with hc pistons Best choice for the N/A croud as they get the advantage of the Higher Compression and the larger Valves.
-3.0l with 2.5l heads Most widely in use but does suffer some from the smaller valves in the 2.5 heads. Gets good gains from the Higher Compression though.
If you have the Lower from the ST200 a set of adapter plates can be made for the 2001 heads to have it bolt up. Jiako's Machinist has said he would sell them if there was interest.

ok, I think I am going to look for a 2001+ 3.0l to keep heads and use my ST200 cams and custum intake. thanks a lot for your help. my next big problem is with a 2001+ 3.0l, ST200 cams, custum intake, what about injector size, maf size and computer chip (the st200 is with eec-v). regards jacques

Injector- I think most are using 24lbs. The 3.0 comes with them stock and depending on the engine you get and the fuel system you have you might be able to use the ones it has. You would need to get an aftermarket MAF (Pro-M etc..)set for 24lbs injectors. Get either a APEXI SAFC like alot of the other 3.0 hybrids or a custom tuned chip.
With your intake I'd love to see what kind of numbers the engine puts down.

Taurus and Mercury are the same. Yes you can use the MSDS Headers on both. I'm fairly sure they both use 24lb injectors. Same engien so yes the cams would work on both. 75MM ProM is what I have I think it's a good size. APEXI SAFC(Super Air/Fuel Controller) ajustes the AF mixure at up to 8 different RPMS. Final Drive from Terry Haines - Haines MotorSports I hope you get this before the site dies.

be careful when looking at the 3L in US taurus and sable, there are two different 3L engines, one is called Duratech (the one you want) w/ 24 valves, and one is called Vulcan (the one you don't want) w/ 12 valves
It's all about balance.

thanks for all last time I was in lax I just rented a taurus to see the engine and it was vulcan (in fact not very powefull). with the apexi you can just tune a/f only or also ignition? if not can you use apexi for fuel and a superchip or diablo for ignition? do you knom a dealer for an apexi system? I just taked some picts of my inntake and after a scan I will send them. regards jacques
