I would also like a built 3.0 with 300@the wheel or so. I have $4000.00 saved up for my car so looking for a builder!
i will aslo run boost on the motor!

I'm just curious, how would you get 300fwhp out of the 3L and have low enough compression for boost?

"if you have to ask you cant afford it." very true in most cases but on the other hand some people want to know how much they are looking at. I went by that motto and by trusting a friend when he said " I will treat you good. " he charged me $1000 for a fiberglass box for 2 18" speakers to fit in the car ( 3yrs ago) I dont have it anymore and I did pay it, But I learned one thing. Dont have someone do something for you till there is a qoute and hopefully on paper.

sho shop (publicly) quotes 1499 for the 3.0 engine new and 1799 to do the install....price was the same even on my atx but they weren't sure about doing it since they hadn't tried to convert an auto tranny before

edit: according to their never updated site its $1999 for the install...didn't see the price for just the engine but i was told $1499 when i went there to get my ford racing wires a couple months ago

Myself and everyone I know have been through this scenerio: Work from us is taken on by someone who is knowledgable but not communicative, good but non committal when it comes to price and especially schedule.

I intend to meet with whoever ends up doing my swap and getting everything in writing, including what will be done to the engine, what options, if any, I have, how long it will take, etc. If someone is good at what they do it doesnt matter if they cant see the wisdom in doing this.

I have been burned before, but wont be again.

I am just finishing a built 2.8 liter motor, the following is alist of mods and the cost.
Darton Sleeves. JE 8 to 1 pistons, pauter forged rods, Balanced and blueprinted, Port and polished heads, stainless steel one piece valves, extrude honed uim & lim, 28lbs injectors, piston rings, bearings, gaskets, reground cams cost right at $6,000.00. That dosn't include pulling the motor or installation. It costs a ton of money because everything has to be custom made. If enough people showed the ability to pay for these kind of mods the price would come down, because it would be profitable to mass produce and market the parts.

Mr Lee is spot on in respect of cost and 'attitude'.Custom work is just that and it takes time and money,if you cant pay you wont play,who in the aftermarket and custom area is going to build hybrid engines and fit them for a $1000, get real guys its expensive.BTW we have Mr Lees trans at HMS Inc along with cam specs for reprofile etc. wink
