I am not getting any pinging. Unless I forget to put in Octane boost or run 104 octane. Guys, trust me I don't let it ping at all!! I carry around a case of octane boost and have not had a problem, except for about 3 minutes the very first time I filled the tank up!!
Brad, If I take the IAT mod out, my eninge loses a lot of power, I know it doesn't make much sense, but damn that little mod makes one hell of a difference on my current setup!!! Once I get the emanage fully tuned, I will remove the IAT and dyno a few times to check the difference!!

Advancing the timing (to a point) increases performance. Increasing the timing enough to require 104 Octane is going to make a very noticeable difference. Now, whether the IAT mod is the proper way to advance the timing... Bob

If pinging is a problem couldn't you just add a little tolulol or xylene when you gas up. I know they are usually a major component in most octane boosters you buy at the store.
not to change the subject but, why couldn't our cars be designed to burn leaded fuel. If they were we could just go the airport and pick up some 100LL avgas. (100 octane with 2 ml per gallon of tetra ethyl lead and a trace ammount of TCP [tricreasyl phosphate] used to help scavenge lead oxides) It is popular with hotrodders since it is abundant, reliably free of contaminants and less expensive than race fuel.

Sorry jjennings, this one was all I had to go on and what I was responding to. People above we're confusing a pinging issue with a self inflicted pinging issue. I do know the IAT mod well. You could so long as you are cat-less and don't care about the condition of your O2 sensors. Lead gas tends to coat everything with black soot. That's actually the reason it used to be used in cars, to keep a good seal with the valves. Now that we run unleaded fuels in our engines with hardened valve seats, lead is un-needed and can actualy cause harm. A better bet would be to run the 100 racing gases without lead.

oh yeah, problems with the lead clogging cats and O2 sensors slipped my mind.
I agree that running premium pump gas and a bottle or two of octane booster would probably work just as good.

T.E.L (tetra ethyl lead) is a det retardant, the offshoot was lead deposits that helped the valve seats, all alloy headed engines, even with leaded fuel, have had seat inserts for years, ally does not like glowing valves seating on it...tends to melt!!!!My Jag has a 3.4 DOHC Straight 6 XK motor ,hemi-chambers BIG valves AND INSERTS...it was built in 1953!!!!!

Jimmy, Do you have the eManage installed right now? If you are running the eManage, do you have it set-up correctly? You can get rid of pinging by increasing your fuel delivery with it. BTW (My partner and I have gotten the ignition timing device to work. It's just got to be packaged correctly and tested for reliability.) warmonger
