Ok, I need to know what kinda compresseion ratio would be expected from using non svt 2.5 heads with the 3L echaust valves...And whatever it is, do you think that it will be okay?

Compression will be the same 11.2:1 you'll just be able to breath better so you'll see a increase in HP.

Still battling some pinging gremlins with my 11.2:1 compression on 94 octane. Doesn't matter what valves you use, that's still a lot of compression.

CR changes between 'stoc' 2.5's & SVT 2.5 are done by pistons not chamber volume........hence stoc or svt heads you will still be over 11:1 on a 3.0 block.......

PA are you the only one expereiencing pinging? I'm just concerned cause bnoon and I are working on a swap and were going to run the 11.1:1 CR and the highest gas I can get is 91 around here. Any ideas why yours does it and no one else? Terry?
Would the greddy timing function work if warmonger gets it to work?

Just use 2 sets of head gaskets... Lowers the CR nicely. Sorry, couldn't resist.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...NEVER EVER NO SIR...use a single thicker but not two..You need either fuel enrichment or ign retard...or both at that CR and bloody cool intake air...det kills a motor...er...Buckshot...what do we know about CR & det?????

Kinger, I've never had a ping on mine. Ingnition maps look fine, the dyno looks fine (a bit fat on top, could use a chip), and my SE heads are untouched, save for a tiny bit of material removed from the very edge of the chamber to eliminate the pointed edge (thin point = hot spot on an overlapping edge into a larger cylinder is bad, mmmmmmmmk?). I run 92 octane Ultimate from Amaco, but have been known to get by on 90 as well. Fat pipe CAI helps keep cool air coming in. Red Line watter wetter helps to drop coolant temps a few degrees. Now I need an oil cooler after hearing Terry's SZ stories!!!

I ping like a mother unless I run 104 octane, it sucks, or 91 octane with 1-2 bottles of octane booster!!
