It's called the "S197" and is related to the DEW98. The base 6 in the new 'Stang is slated to be a Duratec and there are to be more applications in future, (500, CrossTrainer, SUVs). The old 3.0 2V and 3.8 Ford V6's are dinosaurs on the way out.

I am also sure more HP is on the way if it will help sales. wink

That is correct ... the platform is being dubbed "DEW-lite" ... as for the 3.0 being in the Mustang as the base engine, that isn't confirmed yet. However, how will a RWD engine help the FWD community? It very rairly does. Case in point: Mazda 1.8 found in the Miata is also used in the Escort GT ... you don't see turbo kits for the Escort GT (91-97), but there are at least 2 that I know of for the Miata.

A turbo is not the only way to enhance engine performance. I was thinking more along the lines of cams, intake, stronger engine internals, etc. Perhaps a stroker kit???

internals is the only thing that would cross over ... long. vs. transverse mount will hinder swapping things like intake, turbo, supercharger, ect.

Hopefully MazdaSpeed will do something with the 6, like they're doing with the Protege.

Well, since we already have a supercharger kit (although less than perfect), and a turbo kit in the works. The internals are where we are lacking the most arent we...?
