Thanks guys! I got Brad and Rick about 2 hours away that are helping me with allot of this stuff but I still might bug ya sometime smile

Still confused why so much HP on a 3L w/3L heads and a slightly hotter cam? I mean were not talking about 10hp but more like 40 if your putting down roughly 200 FWHP that's like 240 at the fly. Any theroies?

Just that he had a little more work to do than me.
Thanks Jiako, reduce all my work to the same as a pair of 3L heads. wink j/k

Actually, I guarantee that my intake passages are much bigger than the stock 3L heads for the 98 and 99 models.
I didn't have a 01 3L so the heads weren't compatible with the water pump drive. Therefore I went the route I did. The attention to detail I put in was immense, and the heads turned out awesome IMHO. I was prepping for forced induction, who know's where that will go.

As far as my numbers:
I hit 196 to the wheels with everything stock on the car, that was air intake, svt exhaust, injectors, computer.
For during the dyno session, I hit 214 with stock airbox and exhaust dropped at the y-pipe, and 217 with a pro-m and big filter and exhaust dropped at the y-pipe.
Last dyno session I went to, I had screwed up ignition coils and wires. With just the exhaust changed to the 2.5", stock air intake, and the GReddy scaling the MAF to account for the 24# ijectors, I hit ~204 HP. The GReddy was untuned and I couldn't tune it because the spark was so screwed up. That really screws up the power when your dyno run looks like a spiked hair-doo. Torque was ~195 ft-lbs.
I fixed the ignition problems though, and it was much better after that. I estimate that before I put the headers on and after I fixed the ignition wires I was probably between 205-210. Now I put headers on and I feel a nice increase again. So I expect a dyno run of at least 210 or greater this time.

Right now I am working on the 70mm throttle body issue to let in that extra air. I may also put in a new catalytic converter and a different resonator soon after that if I feel exhaust may be an issue.
However, my Primary focus is the GReddy eManage timing functions. I am ALMOST done with the module, it is mostly working. If I hadn't had finals this week I would probably have the prototype done already.
I assure you people that it will be worth the wait though!
When it is done, I will make up two maps for the unit, one for street driving and one for the track when I have really high octane fuel.

As far as heads, I am pretty close to the 3L with the enhancements of extrude hone and hand polish.
I feel that Jiako is right, that you could put about half the work into the 01 heads and achieve the same thing as long as the intake manifolds are modified accordingly.

yes my friend so are mine.....i actually have a few pics of what i did to the heads if ya wanna take a look. I just don't know how to get them online. Ill email or if someone wants to tell me how. Another reason for the increase in horse power i think is that the svt Pcm is a much more aggresive program than a stock 3L. That is why we need to run a premium i think. A good exp. would be to put a stock 3l pcm on and dyno it and them put the svt one on and do the same

Well I'll going with the 3L heads, PnP, valve job, etc hopefully I can pull as good of numbers from them and stay with that lower CR. Thanks for the info guys! smile
