I have a nifty master plan for my Contour (in about 2 or 3 years). I will put the 3.0 LS S/C engine in there, and find a 6 spd MTX to go along with it. Then I want to transfer that power to some kind of AWD unit that has/can be adapted to the Contour.
You know that is what Ford is doing with the Jag X-Type R (the topic of this thread). Mondeo based AWD drive platform with 3L S/C motor and 6 speed. I suspect the "home brew" version you are thinking of will cost nearly as much..
