I was reading on Edmunds that Jaguar is coming out with 3.0L supercharged version of the Duratec that will be placed in the AWD (or 4WD?) X-Type sometime in the 2003 model year. Any possibility to START using that platform? Or would it actually be cheaper to use the current 3.0L and SC that? Supposed output over 300hp, and it'll be factory reliable when it comes out. Just a random thought.

Do they also fit the Contour like the Taurus 3L?

I would start preparing now by getting an LSD, clutch and flywheel bought and installed by a qualified technician. I say this because IIRC, the blower being used will be a roots style blower that makes mad torque down low ... kiss you MTX-75 stock diff goodbye within the first year unless you abosuletly baby the car and drive like a grandma. If that's the case, I don't see you needing either these upgrades or the blower to boot laugh

Also, at that HP/TQ rate, you will need to start worrying about CV joints, Wheel bearings and Gear sets too. Not to mention the obvious rods and pistons. I will probably get a lot of flack for this, but the truth is the truth: do it right the first time and you will not have to worry about doing right the second time.

Some people will no doubt comment that the factory rods this and the factory rods that, but guess what ... when you do actually bend a rod, best case scenario, only the rod is bent and no other damage occurs. Parts cost $150-$180 ... labor ... BEND OVER! You are better off doing as much preventative maintence as possible ... in this case, replacing damn near everything internally.

One thing about this new motor - if they put stronger rods in it we may be able to use them because the 2.5 uses the same rod as the 3.0, including the Jag IIRC. Factory forged rods! laugh

If you can afford the new Jag motor why are you driving a contour? personally I would take the whole car after all its only $50k or so This motor would cost more than any contour is worth sorry but I cant help being realistic it comes with age I guess

2000 dollars where are you getting your cars at slow poke? That is the cost of the LS motor which puts out close to the same horse and torque as the jag. Even with terry doing prep work your lookin around 4000 dollars. Guys pay that much for the vortechs with Installion and the LS motor matchs the torque output of the vortech. Hands down I would buy the LS motor over the turbo and The supercharger.
