Sorry I was talkin about the LS motor. The 3.0 ls motor is similiar to the s-type from what I have read. yes a 3liter sced jag motor would be considerably more. Sorry about the confusion

The value of the car has nothing to do with the cost of a new motor....

I have a nifty master plan for my Contour (in about 2 or 3 years). I will put the 3.0 LS S/C engine in there, and find a 6 spd MTX to go along with it. Then I want to transfer that power to some kind of AWD unit that has/can be adapted to the Contour. I think a S/C'ed 3.0L AWD Contour would do well in the meets around the country. I don't know the entire feasibility of the AWD unit, but the 3.0L LS S/C engine and a 6 spd MTX will definitely be my Contour's ultimate destiny. If I could find a way to fit and S/C the 3.4L V8 that was in the '99 Taurus SHO, I'd consider that an option as well. I've already set up a seperate savings account for all this fun stuff. Hopefully in a year I'll have most of the up front money I'll need for the engine/transmission upgrades.

How bout blowing up an engine in a car that you just spent 15K on in upgrades and over 200 hours of labor? Does that count?

Change your insurance to the same type as 'classics' or 'special' and have the car apprased on the value of parts/conversions etc.that way if its stolen you get it back.Higher premiums for sure but at least its covered...

You know that is what Ford is doing with the Jag X-Type R (the topic of this thread). Mondeo based AWD drive platform with 3L S/C motor and 6 speed. I suspect the "home brew" version you are thinking of will cost nearly as much..
