Yeah, it sux it took them this long to do something about it. If they would have used a 3L block and just made the provisions for small pistons and water pump everythinkg would have been ok.

That sure sounds like an admission of guilt from Ford to me, to redesign block / heads for better oil return with only limited domestic production of that engine. Guess 4-5 years of toasted engines taking right hand turns finally clued them in!
