I don't have any pictures posted yet but from what I can find out it looks like the 2001 2.5/3.0 engines have a total of 6 oil return holes in the heads, compared to 4 on the pre 2001 2.5L engines. All 3L engines have 6 holes.
Its possible the 2000 engines may have these extra holes but I haven't had a chance to look at them.
What this means is that there is two holes at the very rear/left of the heads. When you make a right hand turn the oil will go down these holes. Unlike the rest of us where the oil will sit there until enough has built up and will 'overflow' down the center hole or you stop making a right hand turn.
This would also makes it easier for 3.0/2.5L hybrid engines. No more welding/blocking of those two extra holes, they should match right up.
No difference in the oil pan to keep the oil from sloshing around.

D@mn - how many engines do you have Dave ? That sure sounds like an admission of guilt from Ford to me, to redesign block / heads for better oil return with only limited domestic production of that engine. Guess 4-5 years of toasted engines taking right hand turns finally clued them in! Careful with that turbo build up - see the VERY disturbing news up in the dyno forum!
97 SE MTX, KKM, UR UDP, 19# Injectors, SVT TB, SVT UIM, SVT Flywheel, Grizzly Street Clutch, Upgraded motor mounts, mystifed precats, brand new main cat, SVT exhaust sans resonator, 205-55-15 Dunlop SP5000's 154hp / 156 tq before the SVT exhaust, SVT dual honed upper and swapping the mystery main cat for mystery precats. Yeah, it sux it took them this long to do something about it. If they would have used a 3L block and just made the provisions for small pistons and water pump everythinkg would have been ok. Yeah, I saw that post... Sux that he blew up his engine! Originally posted by ScottK97SEMTX: D@mn - how many engines do you have Dave ?
