Terry, most of us here were born later than that smile

Actually, funny story. Graduted college in '92 and didn't get any decent job offers so I decided more or less on a whim to enlist. Ended up doing Basic at Fort Benning, GA - home of the infantry. Was destined for the 10th Mt. Division. About 2 months into basic we do a 12k march and I stress fracture my left foot, but one of my buddies tells me that if I get a cast / am injured they wont let me go home on x-Mas leave. Well, I wasn't sure if it was true or not, but I was planning to get married during leave so I decided to suck it up and drive on. I went through a week of PT and morning runs with a stress fractured foot (OWWWW!) Anyway - I went home for X-mas, got married and when I went back for advanced training (OSUT so basic and advanced were at same place) I had them check my foot, and had it messes up bad enough to earn a lifetime "no marching / flat feet" trip home.

Not a very auspicious military career, but I got to shoot M16's, throw hand grenades, set off a claymore and breathe tear gas with no mask smile
