You know, I am going to be in Fort Leonard-Wood Missouri for training this summer. I believe you live in Michigan right? I wonder how long it would take to drive up to your place for a weekend to attend the training seminar. As it is now, Tucson AZ is just too far from you to drive, and flying would make it a $500+ enterprise for me. I will ask again later when I know the exact dates of the course I will be attending. As far as the earlier post, I didn't quite understand what was the cause of the diff's blowing. I also wonder if the stock gearset is good enough for hard running of 300-350 wHP. I am checking on various heat treating processes right now to see whether they can be performed on a gearset after manufacture and then re-used again. My concern with that is whether or not there would be too much distortion in the part tolerances after the treatments. I am going to be speaking to one of my professors on this very subject soon.
Thanks again.

I get commissioned on May 10, Immediate Active Duty. Right now I'm in the Reserves. I have been branched into the Army Corps of Engineers and I have to go there for my Officer Basic Course. From there I don't know where I'm going yet, though I put Germany down as my first choice. At least I'll get to meet some CEG'rs from KC MO.
I know...I've heard all the 2nd Lieutenant jokes already! Just know that I was Active Duty Marine enlisted out of high school.

OhSigma, when are you going to be in San Antonio? I work about 5 minutes from DLI, on Lackland AFB.

Hehehe - Terry, most of us here were born later than that Actually, funny story. Graduted college in '92 and didn't get any decent job offers so I decided more or less on a whim to enlist. Ended up doing Basic at Fort Benning, GA - home of the infantry. Was destined for the 10th Mt. Division. About 2 months into basic we do a 12k march and I stress fracture my left foot, but one of my buddies tells me that if I get a cast / am injured they wont let me go home on x-Mas leave. Well, I wasn't sure if it was true or not, but I was planning to get married during leave so I decided to suck it up and drive on. I went through a week of PT and morning runs with a stress fractured foot (OWWWW!) Anyway - I went home for X-mas, got married and when I went back for advanced training (OSUT so basic and advanced were at same place) I had them check my foot, and had it messes up bad enough to earn a lifetime "no marching / flat feet" trip home. Not a very auspicious military career, but I got to shoot M16's, throw hand grenades, set off a claymore and breathe tear gas with no mask
