Regardless of what you think of CarDoc, it seems to be the best publically documented project yet.

They've got some big 'nads to completely strip down the car, do a color change, and then drop a new engine and such in it.

I do hope to see the finished product in person.

If you look at david z's car, he did the same thing, remove motor, bumpers, lights, trim, paint special mix of blues, including engine compartment, put back all parts, stuff new 3.0 with one off heads! his car was a complete teardown....

Yes, it too is a nice project. I just think it is cool to see the blow by blow account of what is going on.

Where is David Z's documented, BTW. I'd like to gander at that again.

(And don't say do a search, since this is in the context of the current discussion.)

He also make alot of references to "things" that will be disclosed later. I am sure the car you refer to Warmonger is something to behold, it seems like he has done an extremely thorough job in documenting that swap for all to see, which also seems to be a first.
My personal feelings for Mr. FC.org aside, if they are boosting it then they are on the cutting edge. Not that I can read the thread since I don't want an inbox full of spam again, like the last time I registered over there. How annoying that they restrict read access to their forums, then post a link over here.

However, they will have some company in the boosted 3L crowd, if that infact is what they are doing. (Hmmm, team of 2, somewhere in the Plains, ....) But if they are boosting that motor, I sure hope they don't plan on running a lot of boost in a 11.2:1 motor. For boost, it would just have been better to install the complete 3L with bigger valves and lower compression (if that is what their "secret mods" are).

David Z\'s FAQ covers almost everything you need to know; it's what I used when I did mine and it treated me well. It is pretty complete for anyone using the SVT top end on a 3L block.

I too am confused by their decision to use the SVT heads without MAJOR work. I'd have to think that they at least put the larger valves in or something... They won't be able to boost it high enough to justify the work done unless they lowered compression down below the stock 10:1 of the 3 liter.

Using the 3 liter upper is an experiment in itself, not just from redirecting the IAC path, but because it hasn't been dynoed with the SVT heads in place. Unless it adds an insane amount of HP, there's nothing really ground breaking happening there either.

As far as the 3 liter goes... Until they are able to totally finish stage 1 of their project, there really isn't anything happening other than an ongoing, well documented project which includes no more info than the other FAQ sites on-net at this point.

As a whole... very gutsy project for just a couple of guys with basic car knowledge and a two car garage. Stripping a car completely down is a very involved process on these newer cars and getting it running is by far the hardest part. They've done that, now let's see what's under that towel...

While we are not totally sure that stage two will go off without a hitch, we do have physics on our side. Lets just say with the forced induction, you need to think out of the box to understand how we are going to NOT blow up the engine with the svt heads on board. We've run the numbers, done the math, computed the formulas and found what we feel to be an excellent balance which will come to light very, very soon. I realize that that answer is very criptic, but please be patient, I want to see it done just as much as you all do.

By the way, there is a video/audio clip available at www.fordcontour.org of the first start of the car. Let's just say that no duratech ever has sounded quite like this.
