Rick, I would hate to see what the cost would be after a catastrophic failure. eek

Does that include the cost to buy back your wrecked SVT? I have yet to add up what I have spent already on my project, I dont think I want too either since I have nothing really completed, just a bunch of parts frown

Edit: Upon driving myself nuts thinking about what I spent I am more than half way to the $10,000 mark frown . The end product will be worth the fun though laugh

Well not yet. terry pointed my toward a place on the other side of michigan that has a few 01 motors. i hope to be driving over there sunday or monday to get one. i have kinda changed my mind and disided to just use the 3L block and heads for hopefully a turbo one day. I just got done welding my exhasut up. true duals with a h pipe. in my spare time i have been making little parts here and there for the tour. new audio setup. powdercoated a lot of crap. right now i am working ona roll cage.
Now i am not goign to post again all my plans and what i have done. most of you will see at sz. crap 50 more days well out to the work area. later.

Nope the 15K is all in parts and that doesn't include the cost of all my powedercoating or mods I've traded stuff for.

Mike: as far as catostrophic failure, let's not go there at the moment, but suffice it to say an engine failure would be pretty pricey, but not as bad as the first go round.

Duttweiler (sp?) the guy who built the 450HP focus using a 2.5L duratec said that we do not need larger valves because the ones on there now are large enough, plus you get 4 per cylinder. Now Kinetic racing also agrees with this, anyone have anything to go against it, and if you do please explain WHY?

Nothing against it, just dyno numbers to back it up. :p

Besides, I'm guessing that valve size is more of an issue with naturally aspirated motors because forced induction is 'forcing' the air through.

edit: I'm not sure if the 450HP motor is forced induction or not. I think that if you are going to move more air then you need a bigger hole.
I remember T Haines saying the same thing, that a 3L wont breath well with just the 2.5L valves. Now I know that SHO Shop used stock valves and got 228 HP with tons of other intake modding and exhaust system stuff. They are the only ones that I know of that have had that good of luck with the stock 2.5 valves. I don't know of anyone else that broke 200 wHP with stock valves. They may have done so because they made sure that their valves were the ONLY restrictive part in their engine.
Not to argue with Duttweiler or anyone else, but Facts speak louder to me than words, and there are several 3.0 projects here now that give a wealth of information. The fact that is practically shouting out at me from the dyno results is that the motors with the bigger valves make more power.

warmonger
