I have read all the posts, done the searches, but no one puts it out cut and dry.
What will flow best. Take all the combinations of 3.0 heads (all years) and 2.5 heads (svt and non-svt), as well as all possible Upper and Lower intakes from both engines for all years, and all the different cams.
Now which system will flow the most air at the best velocity. I don't care about hood clearance issues, I just want to know what is the best setup.
What I *think* is the best, but I'm sure someone will correct me is:
2001 or better 3.0 heads 3.0 valves SVT cams SVT LIM SVT Dual Honed UIM (although that wall after the TB kinda bugs me)
btw: i would rather build an engine that makes HP at mid-high rpm.

Until I see proof for another option I will be doing this:
3L Short Block 2.5L Heads (Aggressive Port and Polish) with 3L Valves SVT or Custom Reground Cams SVT LIM SVT UIM 65MM TB
I feel that if you are going to build up a 3L, you my as well have your heads P&Ped to free up even more HP.. It will be worth it in the end...

My thoughts are very similar, with the exception of the heads and LIM. The new 3.0s have 1 oval port per cylinder rather than 2 circular ones. Of course I have no evidence to what actually flows better, but I know of at least one race motor with its intake ports 'siamesed' for better flow. Just thoughts. Mid-to-top end power is also my cup of tea. Oh, and I mention the 3.0 heads because it's less prep, plus the 10:1 compression is fine, because I would plan on adding +/- 50 shot of nitrous as well. 11+:1 would not be fun for long.

Hmm, no shortage of fuel I'm sure! Are the stock rods weaker than the pistons? How much boost are you going to run with? Any bets being made yet on what that puppy is going to put down?

42 pounders Think you'll need that much fuel? What else you plan on doing with the fuel delivery, new pump and lines to deliver enough to those badboys. I am gonna stick with the 24#'s that come with the 01 3L, if push comes to shove I can swap them out at a later time.

Ok i know the 3.0 lim is siamessed what about the heads, at what point to the go back into two ports for valves, right where it meets with the lower or a little bit down thanks to a nice split, basically what i'm asking is going from the lower to the heads is it nice and smooth?

Buckshot, everything looks good but that TB. Is that going to be big enough?
