I plan on using a complete '01 3L with some massaging done to the heads, I cant use the SVT heads (re: Vortech) and therefore will look elsewhere to get more power out of the 3L to get more potential power. The upper to me seems like it would have better flow due to the "restriction/bottle neck".
Has anyone added a lighter flywheel or headers to a 3L?? If these add hp to a 2.5 then I am sure the 3.0 will benefit alot too (whats the weight of a stock 3L flywheel??)
In reality doing the swap is IMHO the best bang for the buck mod (if you can do it yourself) blocks can be purchased anywhere from $600-1000+ for a good motor, in which from Ford has 40ft/lbs more than a 2.5L. Compared to $650 for headers that add less than 20% of that increase found in the motor swap alone. I would take a bone stock 3L over an SVT 2.5 anyday (in a contour that is :p )
Also does an ATX have the same loss as our MTX on a dyno (I would think its a bit greater)
