I ordered the full kit with both types of software and the ability to work with all types of cars. The total package deal was ~$175 shipped. It is not as sophisticated as other OBD solutions, but then it is a heck of a lot cheaper and it does all of the normal stuff.

Alex's OBD-II; nicely under $100, works on any vehicle make... wink laugh

Oh yeah. Does manufacturers enhanced login too! cool

I am in no way biased...

So can we get an unbiased opinion on the Greddy vs Apexi units

I'd also be interested in hearing this. I was informed by my local tuner shop that I would need something much more sophisticated, such as a Electomotive or AEM...

Ah well, too late now!

At least I can use it on a Palm III.

(Don't tell me if Alex's works on a palm!!!)

And all the software upgrades are free also.

I tested it with the C&L today. It wasn't a fair test however as the C&L is calibrated for 19# injectors and I'm running 24# injectors.

It ran too rich, and I had to lean out all the adjustment points to get it to work. Therefore it had no real adjustibility.

The good news is that the stock SVT MAF with the center post removed is very close to the calibration required when you go up to 24# injectors. It is too lean above 3000rpm, but I only had to richen up by 10% in order to bring the power back on.
So, for those of you who want to run 24# injectors, using the stock maf with cut out and polished up centerpost with your apex or greddy is a good solution. If you use the 24#'s without changing the calibration of your maf, then you may be adjusting the hell out of your AFC to get it to work.

That's it so far. I went back to using my stock modified maf, and I like it better because I can use the stock airbox with the hot season fast approaching. It was 82 degrees here today!
And by the way, it doesn't feel any different with the stock airbox hooked up versus an open air filter element. I just spent $25.00 to learn that lesson. frown
I will verify when I finally get back to the dyno once I get the software for this greddy beast.

Tom I hope Lee at CnL was able to help you out. I'd hate for you to not get positive results with the MAF. Oh well I guess we have to just wait and see. Heck if you're gonna use the stock air box it looks to me like you're stuck using the stock MAF till otherwise wink

All right, here is an update. I have both good and bad news.
smile mad

I recieved the wiring harnesses for the injection system and the ignition system. I spent probably 6 hours going through the contour wiring schematics in order to figure out exactly how to hook this crap up. The instructions manuals from GReddy are crap. Evidently, the company that actually makes the unit for GReddy is 'TRUST' a well known Japanese company...In Japan of course.
I saw the original instruction manual and its all in Japanese. The Half-Aszed manual that they give you is a translation, and it has many less pages!

To start off with, the manual only has pinouts for Japanese ECM plugs. They've never heard of Ford. They do give some sample schematics that have enabled me to figure out how the system works, mostly.

The problem I ran into with the actual unit is that there are Jumper Settings and Rotary Switch settings inside the eManage that must be set for the application.
I have been using the nissan VG30DE motor as a model because it has the Hotwire MAF and it is also the only V6 in the list.
Anyway, I have the complete pinout figured out now to hook up everything.
What I don't have is the purpose of the jumpers inside the damned Box!

THe leads me to mad because I toasted an IC inside the eManage last night!
Evidently, two of the jumpers inside the GReddy are to set the type of ignition system. I didn't know that and when I turned the key on, I had a VERY nice SMELL, sizzling NOISE, and Smoke come out of the unit.
Well, the IC that controls the ignition timing toasted. I know that because I traced it on the board to the ignition input/output wires.
The funny thing is, everything else still works on the unit, the Airflow adjust, etc.
Therefore I went ahead and hooked it up to the computer so that I could see what had happened.
I was able to make adjustments to the AF map and the injector map.
**This unit has another nice feature, it allows you to compensate for bigger injectors just by putting in the size of the stock injector and then by putting in the size of the new injector! Then it just scales the output accordingly!
It has a Vtech adjustment that looks like it can easily be used to modify our IMRC opening point. It has a setting that will enrichen the AF mixture when the Vtech kicks in.
Anyway, about the software. It is only supposed to go to the dealer, not to customers. Therefore you can't buy it. I did manage to "borrow" it, and yes I copied it. However, I gave my word I wouldn't distribute it.
**Now I just need someone to come and visit so that they can burn a copy when I'm not looking and therefore I can have a clean conscience.**
Overall, the product is sweet! Ok, this is too long, but I will post more later. I will try to get them to warranty the eManage, otherwise I will be buying a new IC and figuring out how the unit works. So far, I am very happy I bought it except for that. It seems to be able to do everything we could need/want it to do.

Later,
warmonger

Does the GReddy advance ignition timing as well as retard??
