Good catch Brad.
I've been checking on that. I've been told the valves are the same material, but then also told by different people that they are different material. I will edit the above post about that.
I can find no one who really says anything for sure. I think that I will go ahead and take the two valves into school and try to perform some analysis on them.

thanks again,

warmonger

IIRC, Terry replied to a post about that with knowledge of what they were made out of. I don't remember what they were made out of or if they were filled with powder or hollow, but the info was there. I do know he was against it. I'll see if I can find it...

Here it is...

Exhaust valves are a higher temp matl (Nimonic) .They operate at a higher temp than the intakes, which are cooled by the incoming charge. In most conditions the exhausts operate with a slight 'glow'so they must resist oxidization better than intakes.I would not use intakes in place or exhausts...'The China Syndrome....'core melt down'...

My setup will be 3.0L block...SVT heads/cams with 3L valves. I will try to get the compression just under 11 if possible..

Thanks
Eric

Don't forget a chip for timing control.

You are going to need custom programming for the timing if your experience is the same as mine (PCM timing too agressive for 11:1 compression and knocks like mad). A custom burned Diablo is ~$200 cheaper, so that's what I am going with (soon, very soon). $510 for custom Superchip, $325 for custom Diablo. Mine will be RLJ1 code.

so its possible to get 240 fwhp out of a 3l swap/mix? is that like 270hp at the crank? i wanna be all over that (less the turbo, dont have $5000). what would be a rough price to reach this?

...and yes, I did SEARCH first before asking.

The only one who has achieved 240hp (David Z) has special, one-off SVE cams. I doubt you could get there without them... slap me if I'm wrong.

warmonger was able to reach 217 fwhp which is hella good. if i just did my math right assuming the 17% loss, thats about 260 hp at crank. i'd be more than pleased w/ those results. just curious what cost of getting to this level is versus the turbo. I would prefer to have a n/a engine.

very nice 3l explanation in your site warmonger.
