I think I would tend to lean towards "yes we can".
I'm sure the cams have something to do with it, but not 25 HP.
The difference in compression ratio by itself seems to give 10-12 HP by all the computerized dyno simulations that I can run. That alone with no tuning would have put me close to 230 at the wheels. With proper tuning then 240 would be within reach. As it is now, my goal with proper tuning is 230 at the wheels with no major mods.
This GReddy device seems to have helped a lot already with just seat of the pants tuning. I will see what somewhat 'custom' spark timing and fuel delivery with this unit can achieve within the next 30 days.
Wish me luck!

warmonger pls keep us posted. i'd be very interested in your progress. i hate people ribbing me about driving an "escort" and seriously not even acknowledging the svt. as it stands i have some friends w/ 1.8t tt and new is300mtx. they really don't think i can give them a run. right now its a drivers race. i would like keep the car n/a. 230fwhp would put just about anyone to shame. (maybe and maybe the turbo on top of the 3L would be an option much more down the road.

warmonger r u running a custom chip?

very curious what parts and install and tuning costs would run?

...and yes, I did SEARCH first before asking.

So, from what I am reading it seems that 3.0/3.0 compression ratio is too low while 3.0/SVT2.5 is too high.

What is the stock CR of a 3.0?

10 to 1 - yet setup to run on 87 octane. (can you say hidden power)

If I ever end up going this route (hopefully at my choosing - knock on wood).
I will be going with the SVT heads, 3L valves and ~10.8-11 CR (compared to 11.2-11.3 CR)

WWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAATTTTTTTIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! laugh

While I agree it would help, there are so many more things that can help us get there as well. David still has us pinned for highest HP NA 3 liter for now, but don't expect it to last the year. wink
