Thats great guys I am glad I could point you in the right direction. Good luck with the non-stuttering cars for all of you who found the fix. And to answer a earlier question. My intake is back to what I have under my name. He said he didn't like the SCA pipe and I should change it to something else in the future.

Later,
Chris

Thats how I was able to tell the differences in resistances when it was hot vs cold; like 3000 ohms difference. Just thought I would reitterate that. In any case, I sincerely hope you discover what is the problem Edorfox. Also, if you are not yet finished on your journey, WarMonger, I sincerely wish you good luck on that as well. smile Ill keep watching this post and help if I can too.
Na, I'm good now! laugh
Mine may have been both coil and plug wires, but when I switched just the coil the problem was still there. I just decided to leave the Taurus coil in because the resistance measurements were more consistent. I am running like a champ now!
I'm still after more power though, it only seems to feel fast for a about 2 weeks, then I get used to it. Thats when I start looking for more power so I can always feel impressed with the acceleration. I think I need to drive someone's 2.5L so that I can get an idea of how fast the 3L feels again.

Later all,
and thanks again.

Dang!! I hate spending money needlessly!!! mad

However, I'm to a point where I have to I guess. Tom, I did check all "easy" air leak producing connections and they are fine. Previously I have had my UIM off twice and LIM once...the gaskets "seemed" OK and I was very careful installing them. I don't think you can crush them because the bolts are shouldered and will only apply so much torque. Also, I don't recall any immediate change in performance the last time they were off. The problem just seems to be getting progressively worse. I guess I try the coil pack next.
If I'm going to replace the coil pack, are there any better than original packs out there in cyberspace, or should I stick with Ford stuff?

I'm sorry to hear that. I am almost out of ideas at this time. I'll post on it if I think of anything.

Hi Tom,

I might be on to something here with al this rust. RUST! I have to wait till all this "crap" (Marvel Mystery Oil & some water absorbant)I poured into this tank of...don't flame...REGULAR gas!(another story). It's pinging so bad, it set the CEL! :~) After a few drives, I do notice a significant improvement in the cold temp driveability though with the rust cleaned out and I hope it's all or mostly fixed with the next tank of good gas.

It's funny how so many different things are causing this same type of driveability issue.

I hope Lance is paying attention so that 'someone' can add it to some troubleshooting area.
I hope this fixes the problem, I never even considered rust and gas.

Tom

Edorfox, I just want to say I hope you find out what your stuttering issue is. I really did think it was the coil-pack in your situation. One thing I should mention is that I did place a 4-guage ground from the ground point on my new coil-pack as well directly to battery and I replaced all the grounds to frame and battery with 4-gauge replacements. Again, If I think of anything I will post (along with Warmonger). TtYl.

I spoke too soon! I was checking my sparkplugs the other day looking for the cause of a miss at idle and had removed the coil to access the back bank. When it was time to put it back I decided to put my old coil back and "save" the new one. Well,on my drive to work the next day, 38mi., It was stumbling much worse!! I apparently have multiple problems! Aarrrgh!! mad I wonder if I might need injectors after seeing the crap that was in my fuel rail. Is it possible for crap to get past those tiny arse screens in the injector inlets?? There was plenty of crap but I don't think it could have gotten past the screens and harmed the injectors! Man, this car is driving me crazy!

Ed, that was a scary bunch of shizzy rust in your rail man. Most likely it's clogging the screens themselves too. Get a new fuel rail, quick! eek
