You are correct. Some of the running 3 liter swaps are running only 19's right now, though I wouldn't recommend it. The '98 3 liters have the correct 24pph injector to run with the return fuel system, the newer injectors from the 3 liters have a different electriccal conector on them. Mustang 24's will work too, that's what I have waiting for mine.

I learned on the dyno that my 19's really fall off above 6000 RPM, and I am suffering from low peak power output because of it. When a Duratech makes peak power at ~6000 RPM, you know something is wrong! Of course, those 24's don't make my car any faster when they sit in my trunk ...

I don't get it. I am making peak power with stock 19# svt injectors and stock fuel pressure.
I will admit that with higher pressure my car ran a lot faster than what you guys saw on the dyno though. I can't wait to get my new fuel pump and new MAF so I can bump the pressure up.

Either way, that doesn't answer the question why my engine doesn't drop off power with 19#'ers.

Simple, your mods are different. You have the stock cat back correct? The stock TB, no Apexi, and no detonation problems...

Also, you say the car is more powerfull when you bump the fuel pressure, right? That means you need bigger injectors yourself because bumping fuel pressure is a band aid fix. So your power is dropping off from peak, it's just not noticed as much without the detonation.

Brad,

You are probably right. I don't have the stock exhaust anymore. I have a custom 2.5" cat-back exhaust on top of the mystery mod and my modded factory y-pipe.
Since I did that I have begun to get low rpm driveability issues, but high rpm (above 3500) is not an issue.

With or without a fuel pressure change?

I see alot of talk about fuel regulators and different pumps, but has anyone went to a bigger diameter fuel line when upgrading these items? How can the engine get more fuel to generate more power with the same diameter fuel lines as used in the 2.5? I am sure that the Taurus fuel lines have a bigger I.D.

So, what style of 24's could I run with the returnless system in my 2000?
I've got an S-AFC waiting to install that I imagine I could use to control them.

The '99 return style 3 liter DOHC Taurus I got had the right injectors for you. To bad I didn't get the part number. Just be sure to look for a wide oval connector with two little thin tabs on one side... Search for one of my posts about injectors, you should find one of them that has pictures in it...
