And how much difference is there between the Taurus which is what, OBD 3 or something and mine (95 Se) which is OBD 1? I will have mine chipped.

There is a world of difference between OBD-II and OBD-I.

Okay, that's two for not changing the computer. Now can anyone tell me why??? It would be nice to know the answer before I start spinning my wheels.

I have found some wiring differences between the two PCMs but it's nothing that can't be rewired. So someone please tell me why I should run the 2.5 pcm vs 3L pcm.

mad Man I get 24 post here on base and I get my butt chewed cause I can't defend my statement. Marine corp is giving me really ****ty hours now (go figure) anyway I was told that the computer in the SVT is MORE tune to a performance engine (3.0= high compression) where the 3.0 is more of a weak program.
The computer will be able to handle the additional air volume and spark and a whole bunch of stuff
(Man I'm tired working on 36 hours now)
Going to bed

Your 2.5L SVT ECU (I'm using thats what you have) has been optimized to give the best performace. The 3.0L is tuned for what? Family sedan and small suv. I don't think the programmers of the 3L had performance in mind, the 2.5L SVT ECU has a higher redline, it has a softer fuel cutoff point, has less frequent use of the A/C, difference cooling stragities, timing... blah blah I could go on

Now, comparing a non-svt 2.5L ECU to a 3L... you got me there, the only think I can think is that the 3L ECU might have a lower redline due to the engine being larger. Also the 3L ECU has been programmed for use with a ATX tranny, which I'm sure is programmed differently from a MTX (I'm still assuming you have a SVT)

Thank you, that is pretty much what I figured. However, what info can you give that will prove the SVT ecu can handle the airflow and fuel needs at WOT that people have forseen as a problem? Since you have a successfull conversion engine, what have you done?

Yes, I have an SVT. However, it's the fuel and spark maps that I want. It would seem to be much easier to change the redline than to change fuel and spark maps. Although it is true that it has been optimized for best performance, that best peformance was for a 2.5L and not a 3L. I figure this, worse case, it's easy to repin a connector should I have to go back to the 2.5L PCM. I want this rebuild to provide me with a durable and reliable engine that can give me years of faithful service.
