I have both wiring harnesses that begin with the pcm plug for the 99 taurus and the 99 contour. I will take a look at the color codes later today and I will post what I find. I don't expect to find many differences.
I also want you guys to know that some intuition I have disagrees with the different spark timing stuff. Fuel load will be different, but I think everything else should be the same, especially since I am comparing part numbers between the svt and the 3L and almost all are the same.
For an engine with cams using the exact same chain and sprockets and the cranks the same, as well as the sensors and the position plates identical, the stroke is the same; I don't see any way the spark timing could differ other than the svt is tuned better. The only thing I can agree must be different are the air/fuel controls ard the wide open throttle air/fuel data that it defaults to. That can be handled with the apex safc or a variable fuel pressure regulator.
So, that is all I will say on the matter of the pcms other than I will try to help SVTnupe figure out the wiring.
I challenge anyone to provide some proof, perhaps some bulletins or some journal articles, manuals, anything to prove me dead wrong. And hurry up,

I want to know before I put my engine back together.
