I was driving to Fredericksburg from Manassas on I-95 and was about midway when I decided to pass a huge clog of traffic (you know, someone driving 65 in the left lane) and I downshifted the 88 Mustang GT into 3rd and broke free of the clog.
I'm not sure how fast I was going because the 85MPH speedometer was still pegged as I passed an "authorized vehicles only" U-turn sign and saw TWO VA state troopers who were probably chatting with each other, facing both directions in the middle of the U-turn path.
Fortunantly, it was a nice LONG one (I-95 has a pretty wide median at that place, and it's filled with trees) so there was only about a half second window where they could have seen me. Plus I was in the far right lane.
Next time I'll be more careful...
