You'd have to be in a coma not to notice it :p ! I LOVED the traction control on my '95 SE & I wish that my SVT had it . That's one major thing I miss from my SE (apart from the quality control issues of my '00) . BTW - the button is there to defeat the traction control , not enable it .

Hey guys.. umm I may have an answer here.. of sorts.. for the right question.. My question in the post is a bit different though. My post I think they changed the ABS module and it came with TC.. one obvious thing is that the TC light comes on now on the dash. It never did before. How do I get the switch?? what's the part number.. as you can see, I obviously need it.

T/C equipped should have something different on the TB too, right? Elizabeth (IIRC) had rigged up T/C on an SVT.

I paid $25 - $27 for the switch and if you want I would sell it to you for $20 shipped. I know it is only a $5 - $7 difference but every little bit counts, right??

Guys...traction control is more than just a switch. looking at my old zetec ATX, the throttle cable comes up the firewall, over to the passenger side of the engine, and behind the headlamp it goes into a "motor" which then has another cable coming out of it and going to the TB. I'm assuming this thing is in the same place on a v6 tour, but anyway..what this does is basically sense the wheels are slipping and lowers the amount of throttle to the engine by itself. I actually had this go bad on me and wound up not able to drive the car. THe fix was running the throttle cable directly into the TB...of course resulting in a permanent TC light. But anyway, it is a physical motor as far as I know....Doesn't interrupt spark unless they changed it on late model contours. and not to sound rude, but who cares?! It's a useless feature. Trust me it does not help snow driving. I've had less trouble with my SVT in the snow than my old car...Dave your pboblem is weird...sounds like TC and at the same time doesn't...I hope you get it solved quick though. And give me all the details!

The 98 and newer traction control is very different. It does not close the throttle to cut power. It cuts power thru the PCM as well as gently moderating the brakes at the individual wheel or wheels that it wants to control. On this type of a system, the Traction Control is mostly an inhancment of ABS. It seems that the whole idea of this thread is that perhaps the SVT (or maybe other ABS equipped 98 and newer cars as well) already have most of the Traction Control built in and just may need something minor to finish the availability of it.

I'm tired right now..
I've got the full story about this now.. and well you may or may not like what you hear about it.
I'll post in the next day or so. I will say that TC is possible, I don't recomend it. You'll see why.
