hey everyone! a friend referred me to this site since I purchased my 96 lx and I'm looking for some help. I was hoping someone could tell me what kind of perfomance mods I could do or possibly an engine swap. any feedback would be great!

engine swap possible but need $$$$$$. there is alot of options out there you can get 1. intake / CTA,kkn or wait for DDAVIS true CAI. 2. chip 3. exhaust 4. underdrive pulleys 5. cams 6. wires/coil pack and the list goes on. im short of time right now but i will post links. from the comment of engine swap im right to guess that you have a I4. now this is the best mod.... TURBO !!!!!!!!!! if you have the $$$$$$$$ ask smoothy1995 he has alot of info on this.... do a search and you will fing alot of useful info. good luck... also brouse around and see that we have a meet june 15. come on out and represent !!!!!!!!

Only if it's a Zetec. I'm not sure about the trim levels before '98, but isn't an LX from '96 a Duratec?

I've got the 2.5l v6 duratec. I was hoping to do an svt motor swap. please give me more details on the meet and engine swaps. thanks for your help so far! nick

You will need to swap the engine electronic harnesses and ECU, PCM with an SVT's. Not worth it IMO since the 3.0 is more economical.

You may want to look up Simon96SE. He is putting a SVT engine in his 96 SE right now.

No...Do NOT do underdrive pullys... Yes they save weight...but you loose the vibration damper. You will eventually loose your bottom end.
BTW, Nick, do you have a 6 cyl or 4cyl?
