I need to replace my shifter knob...leather is damaged. Will this leather one designed for SHO work (the first one on linked page)... http://www.spmotorsports.com/taurus_misc_shift_knobs.html

Not unless you remove the reverse lockout. But IMHO that shifter is a boring as cold oatmeal.

Yuck. No reverse l/o and it is pertty boring (as Aussie so perfectly put). Check KKM, spmotorsports, even BAT. Go through the links on this site. Lots of cool knobs are available. Steer clear of the really ghetto rice ones though... My suggestion. I have the old Age and Treachery knob and I love it.

Thanks for letting me know it won't work.
I'm just looking for a nice comfortable leather knob...guess I'll just get the stock one.
I've seen some of those "cool" knobs...hard cold spherical shapes, etc...yuck. :p

MOMO makes a spherical knob that is all leather that will work on our shifters, they call them "S" shifters. This pic is for a conventional shifter, but it gives you an idea. On the other hand you could do what I did and just pull the reverse lockout of the shaft and go with a conventional knob. IMHO the lockout is for dumbasses that don't know that you aren't supposed to shift in Reverse after 5th gear!

Try it even when you're parked, if you try to go from 5th to reverse it simply won't go, you have to let the lever go back to the centre first then into reverse! Dumbass-proof or what . But I gotta admit I like the reverse-lockout, I've been driving this car for 6 years now so it's second nature to lift it when going into reverse and it looks way cool if you get an aluminium collar.
