I'd throw that puppy up around 4500 - 5500 and launch it there. You should be able to damn near dump the clutch, but it is not recommended.
Hold the RPM at 4500 or so while sitting on the line, and then slip the clutch out very quickly while adding throttle at the same rate. You should like the results.

Doesn't MTM specify you have to get an exhaust with their chip?

Both APR and GIAC have very good products as well, with ample customer service close to you I'm sure.

I'm telling you on the VW/Audi diverter valves.. You gotta address that, the setup is flawed right from the factory, even more evident if you turn up the boost. Pull off a decent upshift and the car will get on boost so quick the DV might take ages to close, or not completely close at all! It happens to everyone... Forge, Bailey, GFB, etc are your friends.. wink

I have heard mixed results on the GIAC chips, they seem to still have some problems with there programming(Shuttering...etc) Although when they get everything straight should be a nice chip.

APR is a bit low on raw HP/TQ number when compared with the other chips. ALthough they have some very nice programming options/tools.

ABT would be one of my main choices. I have heard they make some serious hp/tq and the delivery is exactly like stock. Plus I hear it adapts!

MTM would be one of my main choices. Pascal is right about it requiring a highflow exhaust. Plus MTM is pretty expensive! One plus about this chip is they from what I hear Jo Hoppen has had a ton of experience programming stock Audi Chips and that he knows his stuff. The MTM chip is a bit more powerful than the ABT but they have different delivery's.

If I were to choose between the ABT and the MTM I would go ABT. The ABT/AMS acomplishes the nearly the same power as the MTM with much less boost. The APR is nice as well but from what I hear its a bit on the RAW side.

Here is a helpful review of the chips: http://www.europeanspeed.com/shootout.htm
(They are wrong about the AMS chip...I talked to AMS and they said their chip is actually an ABT chip modified to fit US specs Audi's...Go figure?)

Anyways good luck w/ your S4...Hopefully I'll be joining the ranks soon! (Within the next year)

Anyone know how hard it is to install the forge DV's. Someone is selling them for 90 dollars and I was thinking about getting them first.

98 SVT

Hey I recently picked up a 2001 S4 myself. It was stock when I bought it but since than I have installed some mods. While I have not driven other chipped cars, I had a APR Stage II+ installed and am very happy with it. While I agree that APR in normal chipped mode may not have the raw power that the others have it seems like a great compromise between performance and reliability. Also if you aren't happy you can use their race program with 100 octance gas and have substancially more power. In the end you will probably be happy with any of the major chip tuners (APR, MTM, ABT, GIAC).
