Tim - that time was faster than any other SVT at Bandimere (5800ft) @ last years All Ford Day. Most of them were in the mid to upper 16's. It was REAL hot that day with a good bit of wind.

Nice time BTW. That was down at PIR?

As for altitude, I just finished a trip w/my car to WI. Man, does it pull real hard once I go down 5000 ft in elevation!! Even w/250lbs of stuff and the A/C on it was still faster down there eek

Hey Alex, it was down at PMI in Pueblo West. I haven't driven the car outside of Pueblo -- Denver, so I'm not sure how it would react at low altitudes. I've been thinking of taking it down to Oklahoma to see my dad, I know my last car had a noticibable improvement in power. I think the elevation where he is is around 300'

I'm going to try a couple of minor mods to the car to see if I can get any better times at PMI. I know everyone says that Bandimere has a much better track, but I don't feel like driving the extra hour to find out; atleast not yet.

I do have a question about tire pressure. Why is it such a bad idea to lower/raise it? I saw other people out there with their gauges, checking the pressure. I said hell with it and just went with whatever my car had (~35psi).

Tim, FWIW when I go home to Charleston SC, these cars are a freaking rocket compared to here.

In about a mile back home, me and my brother got the car over 120 in a little less than a mile.
Altitude about 40ft.
Mike

BTW, good times. Maybe I'll get up to Bandimere or down to PMI this year

I have a dream, and that is a 69 Boss 302 with Jules Asner in it.

Reaction time is the time between when the light goes green and the time the car rolls out of the staging lights. (I.E. starting the timer counting)

.500 tree is used in most cases. (therefore a .500 light/reaction time would be perfect)[/b]
Thank you Demon.

yeah, dont anyone take the reaction time thing as an insult. alot of people dont understand that, until the second beam is tripped, the clock doesnt start. you could sit there, file your nails, and still run a 16.3 @ 82 mph.

demon is right about that altitude correction. colorado has some thin air! bring that car to texas and ill bet you would knock of some low 15s.

if you want to knock off some lower 60's, get some drag radials. nitto 555DRs are some sticky shoes! with practice, the 60' will drop below 2.0.

yeah, but in texas you just have to deal with the air being as thick as s**t
too humid to get any kind of top end..

Do Not do that. Drag radials would equal a broken stock diff for most drivers...

Also I would be very impressed with a sub 2 sec 60' from any Contique'

I've thought about getting a pair of sticky tires for use at the track, but that would probably have to wait until after I get a quaife installed. I'd hate to have to push my car, plus two extra tires, home. laugh
Anyone have any secrets to lowering the 60'? Any special launching techniques? I'll probably go back to the track in a couple weeks. Heatsoak sucks, especially after driving 40miles, then having to run 30mins after getting there. Altitude sucks too, but it's funny to see a new viper only pull low/mid 14's and a bunch of heavily modified v8's run 10's.
