Actually, I think it would still be better to keep them so that the initial take-off before the turbo spools is better. However, I'm sure that turbo is spooled by the time the engine is hitting 2 grand, therefore opening them much earlier would be smart.
I am guessing that opening the imrc around 1800 rpm would be pretty beneficial when the throttle postion is WOT. For good fuel economy you would want to keep its normal opening procedures when not at WOT.
