I can't say anything about future product, but I doubt an engine like this will get thrown in the trash after only one year.

If they do throw it in the trash, be sure to let me know. I wouldn't mind digging through the trash for one of those engines laugh

Ever heard of the 99 Cobra horsepower rating fiasco, where some engines were outputting lower than advertised hp levels? That certainly won't be a problem this time - unless the engine is running on 7 cylinders, it won't be less than 390 crank hp. Even then, I'm not sure.

Of course they're saying 390hp, it's called an "official rating" for a reason.

it says 390hp because that is what ford and SVT are promising to deliver with the car. Are you gonna complain if its a little more? Regardless of what the magazines say.

heheh...

I can see it now.
Angry SVT customers lining up at their local Ford dealer demanding Ford to take back the extra 40-50HP they put in the new Cobra's... laugh

It is quite capable of being faster than a Z06 in a straight line. And on the road course, yeah it will be behind, but not by much, which is pretty freaking impressive considering the car weighs ~600 lbs more than the Z06. Also the cobra realistically costs ~$15k less than a Z06, and an even larger gap to the cost of a Viper. (Don't give me the "but dealers are asking for markup on the car" because I KNOW that you can get one for at least MSRP if you really want to)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to knock the Viper or Z06, both are very fine cars in thier own right, but the new Cobra has them both soundly beat when the entire, all-around package is considered.[/b]
just so ya know, at the dealership i work at mark up is $7500 on the cobra.

And just so you know, I would personally tell people to go to a different dealer if they wanted a Cobra. Its a free country, dealers can mark up cars all they want, but it also doesn't mean the customers have to put up w/ it.
