It is quite capable of being faster than a Z06 in a straight line. And on the road course, yeah it will be behind, but not by much, which is pretty freaking impressive considering the car weighs ~600 lbs more than the Z06. Also the cobra realistically costs ~$15k less than a Z06, and an even larger gap to the cost of a Viper. (Don't give me the "but dealers are asking for markup on the car" because I KNOW that you can get one for at least MSRP if you really want to)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to knock the Viper or Z06, both are very fine cars in thier own right, but the new Cobra has them both soundly beat when the entire, all-around package is considered.

It's all about balance.

definitley impressive. I say might because I just don't know...i'd like to see some video of honest competition between the 2 cars myself. I know the cobra has an upgraded suspension, but is it that which will make it not far behind or just the insane acceleration after falling behind on the turns laugh

the handling balance is arguably impeccable. The only tihng that keeps it from being quicker than the Z06 in the corners is the significantly higher curb weight. the car is spot on nuetral, with understeer or oversteer easily achieved at the driver's whim. This is in spite of the quite compromised suspension geometry the car inherited from the mainstream mustang and the previous Cobra models.

Not too far off the 500/500 ratings of this engine in the GT-40

Those numbers are very impressive!!!

The torque curve is flatter than the local track! :p

What took them so long to get it done right??? wink (suspension/chassis aside - hopefully that's coming!)

Rara- What I want to know is: What are Ford's plans for continuing this engine setup past this model year? Hopefully the supercharged DOHC Cobra isn't a one model year only deal?????? frown frown
