I always do the shifter swish before I go - didn't really think much about, I just noticed it always seemed to shift a little better after sitting if I swished the shifter side to side a few times. I don't know if the shift forks are below fluid level, but it seemed? to help.

Terry, not doubting you in anyway. infact, with more power, i do not doubt the stock diff will end up granading on me sooner or later. Although, the slip/dump methond is the most driveline friendly method of launching the car and only pushing maybe 140fwp currently i(personally) do not see it being a huge risk for the trans in the very near furture. Doesn't really matter, i have a new trans(11,00kms highway) quaife, 4.06 ring gear and pinion and a FS flywheel going in in the next few days. I'm thinking about cryo treating the gear set though.... any comments on that terry? Good, bad?

The MTX75 is a 'constant mesh' trans, which means all the gears turn when the trans is in neutral and foot off the clutch, its just the gears are not engaged but they do spin(buy a Ford CD and check the data and 'power flow').The shifter forks are at the top of the trans, well away from the oil,as this is a 'splash lube' trans and you have to start with your foot on the clutch nothing is spinning in the trans until you let up the clutch in neutral(which is why we pressure lube the trans in the 'Bulldog Box', key on, instant lube to all bearings and syncros).Cryo treatment may help but the basic materials are not the same quality steel as say a Quaife gearset & pinion or other 'premium' transmissions (Hewland/Fergerson etc etc).I think before we all try to guess what goes on in the trans study the Ford CD or at least tear down your own trans...best way to learn!...or ,if you are interested, I can set up a 2 day seminar at HMS Inc,I have no problem teaching this subject...regards TH

And I'd love to tear into my tranny, but when my wife comes home and I have peices of a perfectly working car all over the floor she gets a little upset (Plus there is the small issue of whenever I take things apart I always seem to have extra peices left over when I'm done  , I guess that just means I rebuilt it more efficently right)

If I were still in Rochester, NY I could see driving out, but San Diego is a bit far. Do you do video learning tapes? But hey, if you ever decide to come to sunny San Diego, let me know. I'll buy a quaife, pay for install, and give you extra for the hassle of letting me "help"
