Demon it is good to see your times coming down. I went to the track a couple of weeks ago also but could not improve on my best time. I made a few small mods since last fall but with the temp being 92 and humidity 95% my car would do no better than 14.70's @94mph. I don't feel to bad though since 2.24 was my best 60 foot for the day and that is 2 tenths off what the car did the last few times at the track. To those who think the MTX 75 is so fragile I have made at least 40 passes at the track leaving well above four thousand rpm using the stock clutch, stock CV's and drag radials and haven't broken anything yet. The most important thing is to replace the stock differential with the Quaife or Torsen. I am actually considering using slicks at the track because the car spins so bad in first, even with the Quaife and drag radials these cars really aren't very good for drag racing.

They break the diff; into little pieces; grindy, crunchy pieces. I just saw Wednesday night what drag radials do to our diff. It didn't even survive the burnout. Poor Sam. Also about the stock clutch. I can't get it to grab on street tires. It would be worthless with slicks! I did sacrifice some dead stop launching ability by dropping around 80lbs off the nose of the car. Well worth it for the added turn in ability and nimbler feeling! People said it looked like I was RWD the front end lifted up so much.

Demon, Those are some great times. I don't know much about drag racing overall, but I am reading and learning. I am getting afraid to go to the track with all these diffs blowing up. I will probably go one of these days.

Removed 80lbs from the nose!!!! What did you remove? I know you have the Dyna Batt, but what else did you do? BTW, how does that Dyna Batt perform? Do you get winter performance?

Dave Almost 30lb bat swap, metal battery brackets and tray, Precat manifolds to headers, few other small things & also including stock Y to Custom Y is ~25lbs itself. I should really weigh it. My goal was to be below 3000lbs. I should be there. I just put the dyna-batt in. It's rated ~500CCA. My car is always garaged and I don't drive it as much in the winter anyway.

Hello SVT people. I was wondering what has been done to all of your cars to get them into the 14's will I beable to hit 14's and what is the stock weight of an SVT? And I wasn't sure on this but does the Cougar Duratec have the MTX 75 transmission in it? My ride is a 2000 MTX

They took their SVT's that already have 30 HP more than a Cougar and weigh in stock 100# less, the they added more HP and reduced weight. Nice formula for speed. To get your Cougar to do that, drop 250# and add ~45 or more HP. :p Then make sure you know how to launch...(I'm still trying to learn that) warmonger

Demon, I went to the drag races last night for the first time with Pojay and DDavis. I must say I had a great time despite the 300 mile round trip. Anyway, I didn't do that well. In my very first ever run, I ran an embarrassing run, but I did better on the next two runs. I'm going to list the times, but don't anyone laugh just yet. I have done nothing to reduce weight other than my headers. I am running with a full spare tire, speaker box with 4 10" woofers, 4 heavy midrange speakers, amps, junk food and soda bottles, even laptop and 100 cd's in the back seat. Run 1: 16.645 at 88.088 with a RT of 1.316 and 2.462 60' I bogged down and missed second gear, I really smoothed out my synchronizer! (I was nervous, 1st ever run, remember?) Run2: 15.674 at 91.469 with RT - 1.495 and 2.55 60' (No missed gears though I shifted slow after grinding 2nd in the first run) Run 3: 15.560 at 91.419 with RT - 1.435 and 2.413 60' I was getting a bit more confident after the other two runs. ****ty bogged down take-offs on all three runs. That was all the runs I could get before they closed the track. I think It would improve if I could do the launch right. Basically, its just like I am doing a 10 mph rolling start. I just need training...when I get to MO, I am going to look you up and take some lessons. A better driver would certainly be in the 14's in this car. Now I know exactly how difficult it is to properly launch one of these cars. Kudo's to you guys in the 14 second club. warmonger

I checked out Demon SVT's mods and lists I should've hit 14's last time but stock 15's with those crappy ass tires make for poor launch. I spun for along time. my best is a 15.3 at 91.0 mph. I have stripped the interior down to one seat and I will work on weight reduction for the rest of the car next. Run. I haven't seen one Cougar run a 14 yet I may be the first. Thanks for the added info. Warmonger nice job with the emanage system hopefully I will be getting it some time in the future.
