Dan,

How much did the dealership charge to install your DMD? I'm just itching to get mine done too. I may also have the preemptively install a metal water pump.

Thanks,

George

ghodge, it was 1.5 hrs at around $65 hr - about $110 w tax. Did not have the tools nor inclination to do it myself (crankshaft seals & all).

FYI, also had them throw a new accessory belt ($36) on even though I have only 24.5K on the car. Belt looked fine but my wifes 3.0L Duratec Sable had belt replaced after some modest wear changes caused it to fail state inspection at about 50K miles. The install labor costs more than the belt and they can replace the belt for no extra labor if you are doing the damper.

Thanks for the info guys but you said the dealership installed it? I thought this was some kind of an "aftermarket" item, why would they install such a thing confused If I get around to doing this I'm going to THM, period laugh

Dan,

Thanks for the installation price info and the tip about the accessory belt. Roger, the DMD is a Ford part so they shouldn't have too many problems with installing it.

"I thought this was some kind of an "aftermarket" item"

Nope, it's the redesigned Ford OEM harmonic damper(was "single mode" now "dual mode" which reduces crank bending and presumably crank whip) used on current 2nd generation 2.5L Duratecs in the Euro Mondeo. Ford PN and everything. I told them it was a geniune upgraded Ford part, they said OK.

Finally got mind installed at a transmission shop managed by my cousin. With the money I saved vs the dealer, got a new Craftsman click torque wrench and puller.
How's $35 for labor and new Autozone/Kellyspringfield belt.
I helped and learned something ( hopefully won't have to do that again.)

I helps to an YORF!
98 Mystique LS built 7/97 on yes it takes poly-v for a 97. The 98 uses a belt approx 6" longer?
Must be a different tensioner???

I just love having this inside info ( past experience in military & phone company it's amazing all the corruption and greed out there)
, now to slowly work on Ford for a parital refund. One way or the other.
And as always with inside info, the source needs to be protected!
"Terry thanks again for procuring the part" I can assume Ford US will never volunteer to or admit to??

Hey Dan, did you order your DMD from Terry and then had the dealership install it or did the dealer actually got a hold of the part for you? Then what's the Ford part #?
Thanks.
