Any chance you got the head disassembled too Rick? I'd like to take a look at those valve seats too after trying to "exhaust" those piston parts. Prolly toast right now...

The cylinders really don't look all that bad. As Terry said, "I've seen worse". Most of that crap at the top will pop right off with a hone and the scratches don't even seem to bad. The thing is though, that we need to get her some new slugs to throw around for sure.

You're right Terry. If you don't have time to do it right, then you darn sure don't have time to do it a second time. I've done my part in talking him into waiting it out to get the right parts in there and it sounds like everyone else has the same idea. We've still got some options to put a motor in there before SZ so long as it's not boosted. Then he could still take part in some of the events at least.

What I was referring to is there's so little time left to explore any of those options before SZ and keep life on the home front in check with his wife and at work. It seems like SZ is just around the corner for me and all I'm doing is swapping out valve covers, intakes, and adding some hangers for my new dual exhaust in the time left. I can't imagine being disappointed about not having the first boosted 3 liter at a major CEG event after so much money and labor. What a pisser! I'm miffed about it too and I had only a very limited hand in the project...

Always the National at Tx.....the SZ is a meet but I dont think 'running in' a fresh engine on a drive to Mi is the way to go....maybe we have too much peer pressure on Rick...cut him some slack..why take a risk AGAIN....first can be an error...to 'rush build' it and have ANY problem on the way to Mi is foolhardy..sorry my 2 cents!!!

Anyho, take the time, do it the right way. I know its tough and I am not a very patient person my self either. But its either do it right the first time or do it again. I can sympathize with Rick on $$ spent, and he's got my by a long shot there, but thats why we're on this board and thats why we mod the hell out of these cars.......

I dont think you have to worry about Mr Hightower,I was talking to the 'StreetFlight' crew yesterday,the project is moving forward, just be a bit more damm patient...
