I know it is a bad experience, but if you can learn something from it then is it really bad? Just think of it as a real expensive investment in your education.

Look at the bright side, you haven't disassembled the engine yet to see what the problem is. For all you know the engine may have a mechanical problem and detonation was not at all the case. But I'll side with you on the fact that if the ignition retarding system was not operating properly then detonation might be what happened.

You guys know more than I do about the engine so I'm sure you will find the problem, fix it and end up with something even bigger and better than before. Isn't that what tuning is all about?
