It was a sad day, I was watching as the the 3.0L S/C revved up and the blew a ton of white smoke. This car sounded so vicious and it had all the makings of a 300+ fwhp setup, but something just wasn't right in side. I wish I could have said his partial test run numbers were where they should have been, but the poor thing did not have a chance to open up. My sympathy definately goes out to Rick. I would tow it, but my VR4 does not have a hitch on it. :-)  On the Dyno  The motor in Post Mortem form :-(

I watched the dyno graph and at about 6000 rpm it leaned out to 14.2:1 and that was when he was getting off the trottle. It puffed white out the exhaust, and we got out the compression checker. The rear bank is ok, the front has 25psi...Ouch.

What's the story behind the upper intake manifold? Doesn't look like this one.

Rick was on his cellphone to me after the 'blow' while doing some checks...sounds like a holed piston(s) re Det/too much spark/too lean...............

Brad, I don't want to start an arguement here, but don't blame the MSD box. Blame the fact that the stock SVT calibration was in place with no other assistance with the engine management. There is a reason why the stock Vortech kit comes w/ a superchip. -Mark

thats the 2000 UIM he is going to have brad powder coat to match everything else, its just not finished yet. -Mark

Well, he's got a way home now anyway. An SCCA/Mustang Club of Iowa member is going to pick him up and bring home the wounded animal. Cell phone battery went dead so I couldn't get any more info...
