Huh? Did I say I paid $400? Try about 20% of that.

You obviously didn't read my entire post, as it was only 3 PEAK hp. As I stated earlier, I don't really care for peak HP, because in theory, it doens't mean much. RE-read my post, and you'll see I gained a solid 6-8fwhp from 3700-6k+.

Looking at your dyno numbers, this makes even my peak #s respectable... Guarantee you you'd see some great gains w/ a S-AFC, considering all your intake and exhaust mods...

I say it was worth the $XX that I paid.

Woah tiger. Like I said. Not flaming you. and I did read the post. I like your less is more approach to mods, and the gains above 3700 will really be felt in day to day driving, which like you said is better than peak anyway. I assumed you paid retail for your SFAC...my bad. The retail price is darn near $400. I am looking forward to seeing you break into the 14's this season.

John,

my bad, I thought you said I paid $400 for my dyno time... Maybe *I* should read posts more throughly...

Anywho, I paid $305 shipped for the S-AFC.

I still think you're making a mistake by buying a C4, but whatever floats your boat.

And yes, w/ the added mid-range power, I'll be very dissapointed if I don't hit 14s.

I think several of you are focusing on the peak numbers which is not the point here. Would not compare one car on one dyno to another car on another dyno - error range from actual is about +/-5 HP (or +/- 10 HP comparing 2 cars), and THAT is assuming that all the corrections are accurately pluged in & operator know what he is doing.

But, run to run benefit is MUCH more believable - that is the reason to dyno. This is a further demonstration of the AF/Cs capability. 8HP across the midrange and 3 HP peak is pretty good considering the limited flow mods on this car. If he opens up exhaust more, or intake with bigger t.body, MAF, more Extrude Hone, etc this mod could be worth alot more.

Just to show you how peak hp and tq is waaaaay overrated....

Comparing my dyno graphs to Rara's stock '00 SVT w/ K&N... (comparing his best run to my best run)

Rara's TORQUE PEAKS at 156.4, but look where it peaks. Right as soon as the run is started, then goes DOWN tremendously, and averages about 142-143fwtq from 3500-6k rpm.

Now, looking at my graph (dammit I need a scanner), I peak at 155.1fwtq, which is less than Rara's, but I average about 151-154fwtq between 3500-6k rpm, a very solid 10ft/lbs of torque increase throughout that range.

So, keep that in mind next time somebody posts 'peak' HP and peak TQ numbers.

Can I post my old power curves again... wink I average ~158TQ from 3500-6000 rpm :p

I agree. Peaks are nice, but flat power curves are better. Overall gains through the power band are much more important than a few peak points.

My next dyno will lose my lower rpm TQ peak. (169TQ)

Does that mean the car will be less powerful or slower??? I don't think so...
The rest of the power band will still be there. Hopefully just much higher! laugh

Oh yeah? I average 180fwtq from 3500-6000 laugh

In all seriousness Demon is right, peak numbers don't mean anything. The shape of the curve and how long the power is sustained is what's more important.
