And Boy do I suck!!! Out of 3 runs my best was 16.08 my reaction time is what killed me. im so slow of the line and. another prob. was when i would launch of the line at 3,000 I got the worst wheel hop ive ever felt. I thought my dif was going to snap in half. Of course it didnt help that the guy next to me in his stripped civic reved untill he bounced of his rev limiter during staging. Its not a good exuse I know. now i want to take my car to a dyno and make sure its me being slow and not my car. If i cut a good light And had a good launch I know i could get into mid 15's. But I would just like to give my utmost respect to U guys that are Good drag racers, Because D#MN that sport is hard.
Now i have to try auto crossing. Maybe all those endless nights playing Gran Turismo would help.

For one, your Reaction Time (R/T) has nothing to do with your Elapsed Time (E/T) R/T is just how long it takes you to launch your car off the line, the clock for your E/T doesn't start untill you leave the line. Try launching at a lower RPM maybe 2500 or 2250. Um other than that, just let it ride to redline and SLAM it into 2nd and go on your marry way to a mid-to-high 15 second E/T... Hope this might help you out a little bit

No worries dude. It just takes practice. Practice your launches often (Have some spare diffs sitting around ) It will come. I still have my first slip and I always laugh when I look it over. (16.11)

everyone busts a 16 every once and a while...even when ur cutting perfect lights and have a good launch....you can miss a gear.

Yeah don't launch higher than say 3500...and give her a little bit of slip as you roll of the clutch before burying the loud pedal. Any more than 3500 and you're either putting undue strain on the diff or melting your clutch trying to control tire spin. For example, check the video in my sig...too much tire spin...could have been a 14 with a better 60' and no spin.

Lower your tire pressure down to 15-20 lbs in front to eliminate wheel hop.

A good launch and crisp gear changes will net you what your looking for. Welcome to the addiction.

Two Thing would have helped
1. I was running 35 psi
2. I was dropping the clutch
I never missed a gear ,but that probably caus I took soooooo long to shift
I cant seem to shirp the tires going into 2nd even if i try.

Hey man don't feel bad. My very first time out I ran a 16.28,16.09,16.09,& 16.07. I thought I just sucked too. All it takes is some practice and getting used to your car. Ironically I'm having my car dynoed this weekend also. It feels terribly slow. A couple more trips to the track and I'm sure you'll be just fine.

Hey just try to launch spining tires and hold the throttle just enough to keep the rpm's at around 5000 and hit second hard and the rest is downhill. I hit a couple 16's just on bog off line or gring into gear can do that. hey don't feel bad I launch in third on accident and clutch slipped and spun hard nearly burnt it up and drove the track all the way in third just about for a 20sec at 85 mph HAHA :rolleyes:

I can chirp the tires going into 2nd in my Zetec, so I know it can't be that hard in a CSVT.

There's also less weight on the front tires on a zetec => less traction. But no, it's not hard.
