I talked to my friendly Rousch Duratec engineer-
He said that Ford just did a whole bunch of medium RPM dyno durability problem tests to figure out why the duratecs go toast.

well the end results-
at 5000 RPM there is less than a half pint of oil in the pan!!
WE all heard it was rumored that if we ran a half quart high on the dip stick it would help matters-
well here is what Ford said to do- RUN 1/2 to 2/3 HIGH ON THE DIPSTICK TO ALLEVIATE OIL STARVATION PROBLEMS.

but can you believe it- at 5500 rpms there was virtually no oil in the pan.

Sounds like all the owners who paid out of pocket to replace motors should sue for negligent design.

But then again, this is Ford, the company that buys springs that corrode and rear wheel bearings that corrode. Even though, PPAP should require salt spray testing.

Horse, outstanding (that you have provided this info). Basically VARIFIES what we have suspected. So FORD is saying run 1/2 to 2/3 extra quarts. Are they going to fix this with a bigger pan (fat chance)???

This is front page news man - you should post this in General/Problems/Performance as well so everybody sees this!!! GOOD WORK!!

1/2 a pint - good LORD, and they just now figure this out!! eek

That's an awesome find.....I would love to see this printed by Ford. Do you have any documentation on this?

no - no text as of yet - but then this is word of mouth out of an individual at Rousch Racing-

FYI Ford has rousch do all the nitty gritty so that if things go bad (EHEM Duratec oil starvation) they can disacknowledge everything- but who do you think built the quad tubo for the GT-90?? yep Rousch
but you dont hear that from ford- but hey this isnt a perfect world-

I dont think that I could even get him to put it in writing- as he might lose his job if he did-
but hey you could include this in what ever you want- I heard it and im doing it.

What about 6000, 6500, 7000??? eek

All you folks with superchargers better add a-whole-freakin-nother quart or more!!!

Don't ever expect Ford to own up to this. Can you say major class-action lawsuit... mad
