Well, I'm a little disappointed, but considering I still have the resonator in my SVT exhaust and I'm using an SVT airbox with paper filter, not an open element. Thoughts? The low end torque is great, but it falls off pretty fast after 4500 rpms.



Runs are back-to-back, no changes. Interesting how much stronger the second one was...

I did have the Superchip installed, too. Didn't have time to do a bunch of runs to see how the chip was affecting things.

Thanks to the Probe NW guys who let me crash their meet. I got to meet Matt, who has the turboed 99 Cougar -- it is sweet! His max dyno was 218hp, I believe, running 5psi of boost.

Pic wasn't working for me.

I wouldn't be too dissapointed though (haven't seen your numbers though) - I've found that running around with a whole bunch of cool perf. parts in your trunk doesn't really help your power any wink Put that SVT upper, TB on - an maybe if some of your catalyst "falls out"............

I take it that these numbers with just an SVT exhaust, airbox, and SHO-shop y-pipe? They really aren't bad at all, especially the torque. It does seem that your car is running out of breath at high rpms, though. Maybe a more free-flowing exhaust such as the Borla and an open-element intake would help up top?

Also, on a dyno they can't really simulate the air rushing over your car and into your intake, so the readings will be a bit low still.

That's why most shops have a big fan in front of the car to simulate the 'air rushing over your car'.

Perhaps, but it's still not the same....on the street you have aerodynamic drag to overcome as well.

What's that have to do w/ dyno readings?

Let me reprhase me previous statement... They have the fans pointed at the car so it can cool down quicker.

Most dyno runs are made w/ the hood open anyway to get as close to ambient temp air into the intake to get the highest HP reading possible.

My main concern was how fast the torque curve falls off. I know why there isn't much high end HP -- too much restriction in the intake and exhaust still.

There were TWO fans blowing on the car during both runs. wink

Mods that matter are: SVT airbox w/ paper filter, SVT MAF, SVT flyweel, ASP UDP, SHO-shop Y-pipe, and stock SVT exhaust. Oh, and secondaries are slightly open via the adjustment screw (about 2/3 of the screw travel open).

I figure I can get quite a bit more high end HP by putting on the SVT TB and upper that I have laying around, putting the KKM back on, and getting rid of the resonator in the SVT exhaust.

I do like the low-end torque, though.

I think the gains you would see at the top end would be well worth the low-end torque loss you'd 'possibly' suffer.

I think the low-end losses would be minimal, and looking at your dyno plot, you have some good HP to be gained up top.

I also think that the low-end torque is due to the ShoShop Y-pipe. My car made ALOT of torque for a mildly modded SVT, but low HP readings with just a SHO-Shop Ypipe. After swapping to the MSDS Ypipe, I noticed a very big increase in top end...but have no Dyno runs to back it up.

I think that the lack of a bend in the SHo-Shop actually HURTS top end...
