Backing up something you owning is 100% legal albeit video, DVD, CD, tape, vinyl, etc... :p

Yea, and backing up his backup and storing it for him in my cd rom drive (for safe keeping after all) is fine too wink laugh

I believe the term would be "off-site data archival". wink

With onsite duplicates for fast restore recalls. At work, we put stuff in an abandoned salt mine in case there is a nuclear bomb or something. "Makin' copies!"

Do you realize Demon that it is a Federal Offense to copy a DVD?? The law states that you CANNOT make one backup copy of any DVD for personal or business use.

Ehh... Just don't ask me where I found my XP.. Hehe.. stored on an .iso ready to burn smile

Nope. Did not know that...

Wonder what all the DVD recorders are for... wink

Guess we have a bunch of film makers... laugh

Wonder if that law will stay like the VHS (and BETA) tapes law did when VCR's came out...

I know several websites the LEGALLY sell "Back-up" copies on CD... (Bought quite a few) Though I'm mainly into Anime and a lot of them are not copyrighted here in the USA (bummer for them! laugh )

...and what about all the DIVX rips I see everywhere online... I've of course never downloaded one...

And so do Dreamcast and PS2 games, but I bet I can find those quite easily. Thats the main reason the Dreamcast is being dropped faster than our Tour's, no one will make a game since it'll be copied, ripped, and bootlegged before release.....God Bless America (insert your own smiley)

Well, since I live in VA you guys could store extra copies in my CD Tower....

If we all get copies it's just a friendly "backup" club not necessarily a piracy ring. laugh

Actually you can burn a VCD from DiVX... And play it on your DVD Player.. I won't tell how smile

And all you'd have to do is setup a P2P program to transfer the files from person to person. This can be accomplished in a very short time.
