Yep, last month I joined the ranks of 3 litered Contours. I dynoed on Saturday with the SE-MI SVTOA group and ended up with 190 HP and 187 TQ. http://people.mw.mediaone.net/sgrzesiak/img/dyno.jpg They had some problems at first getting a signal over 6k RPMs, anybody know why that might happen? I figure I'm probably losing some HP by running the stock cat, so I plan to put in a new one with a 2.5in pipe before too long. With luck, that and some more miles on the engine will get me over 200 HP. I'm pretty happy with the torque. Those extra 40-odd ft-lbs are *very* nice.

It was almost 3:30 - yeah, I offered myself as the next in line after that Lightning. The twisties were great! (especially the times when there wasn't some slowpoke out front. grr...)

Mind telling me all the mods that went along with the 3.0? If you saw my dyno plot you would either laugh or cry. Looks tons crappier than yours. I'm thinking that fuel delivery is insufficient and am trying to correct that problem ASAP.

In addition to the block (new from Bill Jenkins), I have a KKM, MSDS headers/Y, and the Bosal catback.

wow...that's 2 3l's with "low" numbers. I mean, 190 at the wheels is nice, but there's a post here about a "project SVT" that's putting down like 180+ and no 3l. We must speak with david Z....because I was looking forward to a 3l sooner or later....

Yeah, I'm not really sure what to think about the HP. I won't complain about the torque - the project car that was over 180HP was still no higher than 166 TQ. I do believe that PA 3L's and my car are not living up to their potential, but I don't know what I can reasonably expect to end up with. How many 3L cars have actually been dynoed? I know the Sho-Shop project car got about 230 FWHP and David Z's got 240, but are there any others, especially up in the 220+ zone?

hey man, I did not know you had done a 3L!! I must have missed it somehow, and you didn't say anything to me on sat.! anyway, I'm guessing here, but some of your missing power may be tied up in running out of fuel at high rpm.
It's all about balance.

What people tend to forget about is mister torque. HP wins sales and TQ wins races. Brain I think Steve kept everyone in the dark about this. Sheesh what gives?

I suppose I wanted to sit on it until I had the dyno numbers, is all. I'm considering getting the S-AFC, I definitely want to get another dyno run with full A/F monitoring after I finish my exhaust. That, and it's about time to try 225/17's - whole lot easier to spin the tires now!
